Specifications

What do you call a square nut?
A square nut, or square head nut, is a four-sided nut that is designed for use with a square head bolt and flat washer.
Square nuts offer greater surface contact with the part being fastened compared to a standard hex nut, and therefore
provide greater resistance to loosening.

Are square nuts reusable?
The sloped sides of the nut make it impossible for tools or vise grips to grab but unlike other security nuts, the square tapered nuts are reusable and easily removed simply using a spare nut and a wrench.

Application

What is a square nut used for?

Square nuts are used along with flat washers in order to avoid damage from their sharp edges, and help to increase the strength of the fastener.
